Converting PNG to WebP without losing transparency
One of the best features of WebP is full alpha transparency support — exactly like PNG. That means logos, icons, and UI graphics with transparent backgrounds convert cleanly.
The steps
- Open PictoWebP.
- Drop your PNG files into the uploader.
- Choose a quality between 85 and 95 for graphics.
- Download the resulting WebP — the transparent pixels are preserved.
Why quality matters less for graphics
Graphics with hard edges (logos, text overlays) benefit from higher WebP quality settings. The file is still dramatically smaller than PNG, but the edges stay sharp.
